Assam Rifles Jawan Shoots Self After Opening Fire On Colleagues In Manipur: Police

  Manipur Police  said  an Assam Rifles jawan  shot dead after firing at his colleagues  and injuring six others. Police said the jawans were deployed near the India-Myanmar border in southern Manipur.  Manipur Police in a post informed that his condition is stable. “Given the ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur, it is important to communicate details of the incident transparently to dispel possible rumors and avoid speculation.

The injured are not from Manipur. Therefore, this unfortunate incident should not be linked to the ongoing conflict. Police announced that ``an investigation has been ordered to clarify the incident.'' The police further said, "All battalions of Assam Rifles are made up of mixed ranks including those belonging to different communities of Manipur.

Despite polarization in society, all the staff are united in their efforts to ensure peace and peace in Manipur." We have worked together  to maintain stability.”
