 India, known for its rapid pace of 5G adoption, has taken an important step towards future telecommunications advancements by initiating research and development on 6G technology.



 Telecommunications Minister Neeraj Mittal on Tuesday announced the launch of 'Bharat 5G Portal', an integrated platform that will serve as a comprehensive solution for various aspects of quantum, intellectual property rights (IPR) and 6G related research and initiatives. .

Mr. Mittal expressed excitement over India's impressive achievements in building 5G infrastructure, positioning the country as a leader in this field. "India's 5G rollout is one of the fastest in the world, and now talk of 6G has already begun." India currently has the second largest telecommunications network in the world, Mittal said. highlighted the country's commendable developments in indigenous 4G and 5G technologies. relatively short period.

The launch of  Bharat 5G Portal is in line with India's commitment to remain at the forefront of telecom innovation and technological advancement. The portal will serve as a central hub for activities related to quantum technology, intellectual property, and the development of the 6G ecosystem. 


Mr. Mittal further highlighted the huge opportunities for collaboration with India, citing the country's impressive startup ecosystem, which is currently home to over 100,000 startups. He noted that the international community recognizes India as a reliable partner, which has led to increased interest in cooperation in technologies such as 5G and  emerging 6G.

As part of its efforts to foster innovation and growth in the telecommunications sector, the Government of India actively supports investment in start-up companies. During the Bharat Telecom event, Mr. Mittal inaugurated a special session titled "Bridging Dreams and Funding: Connecting Venture Capitalists/Investors with the Future of Startups." The session included presentations by his 26 startups showcasing innovative telecommunications products and was attended by more than 10 venture capitalists and investors.


The government's efforts to foster collaboration, innovation and investment underscore India's commitment to shaping the future of the telecommunications industry and establishing itself as a global technology leader. India currently holds the position as the third largest technology startup ecosystem in the world, but it is poised to create new business opportunities by actively involving more startups in technology development in the telecommunications sector. Efforts are being made on an ongoing basis.
