Israelis, Palestinians, and tourists from other countries primarily use the Allenby Bridge Crossing. Even though Jordan and Israel have been at peace since 1994, tensions are still high, especially over how Israel treats the Palestinians.

Since Hamas' attack on Israel from Gaza on October 7, there has been an increase in violence in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. This includes the attack at the crossing.

In addition to a rise in settlers' and Palestinian attacks on Israelis' violence, this conflict has resulted in Israel conducting a series of near-daily military raids into Palestinian residential areas.

In one more occurrence around the same time in Gaza, an Israeli airstrike killed five individuals, including two ladies, two kids, and a senior authority from the Common Protection.

The Common Guard announced that the strike designated the home of its representative chief for north Gaza, Mohammed Morsi, situated in the Jabaliya evacuee camp. Despite the fact that the majority of the hostages have been given to Palestinians who were detained by Israel during a cease-fire in November, approximately one hundred people are still held hostage, and about a third of them are believed to be dead.

The United States, Qatar, and Egypt have all attempted unsuccessfully to broker a cease-fire and facilitate the return of the remaining hostages.

The Palestinian health ministry says that at least 691 Palestinians have died in the West Bank since the war started. The majority of those killed were militants who were killed during Israeli operations, but there are also civilian bystanders and rock-throwing protesters among the dead.

During the 1967 Mideast War, Israel gained control of the West Bank, Gaza, and east Jerusalem.

Even though Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005, it maintains control over the region's airspace, coastline, and majority of land crossings. Israel and Egypt imposed a blockade on Gaza following Hamas's 2007 victory over rival Palestinian forces.
